What Ridgeline stores, why, and how to stay in control of your data.

Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the publisher of Ridgeline (see the legal notice). For any question or request: .
Playing offline
Games against the computer, two-player games on the same device, training, statistics, achievements, games in progress and your settings are stored only on your iPhone. They are not sent to anyone. Deleting the app erases them.
Playing online
To play online, you choose a username. The app then receives a secret key, kept in your iPhone's keychain; our server only keeps a fingerprint of it, which cannot be used to recover it. No email address, no password and no real name are asked for.
Our server keeps:
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Username, account creation date | Identify you to other players | Until the account is deleted |
| Ratings and number of rated games, rating history | Elo rating, matching players of similar level, leaderboards | Until the account is deleted |
| Online games: opponent, map, moves, clocks, result, dates | Referee the game, let you resume and replay it, detect cheating | As long as the service exists; after an account is deleted, the game stays visible to the opponent under “Deleted account” |
| Date of last connection | Usage statistics, service maintenance; “online” or “seen … ago” on your public profile | Until the account is deleted |
| IP address (for IPv6, only its first part, shared by a whole Internet connection) | Limit abusive account creation; spot one player behind several accounts (rating cheating) | Recorded at sign-up, at the last connection, and when changing username or deleting the account; erased after 12 months |
| Country, derived from the IP address on our server (DB-IP database, nothing sent to a third party) | Usage statistics; spotting multiple accounts | Until the account is deleted |
During an online game, your username, your moves and your rating are visible to your opponent and to the game's spectators. The top ratings are public in the app, as is each player's profile: ratings and ranks, online record, rating history, latest finished games, and whether the player is online.
The server is hosted in the European Union by Hetzner Online GmbH. Communications are encrypted (HTTPS).
Advertising
Ridgeline is free thanks to full-screen ads shown between games (never at launch or during a game). They are provided by Google AdMob.
- On first launch, a window asks for your consent, as required by the GDPR. You can change it at any time in Options › Ad choices.
- iOS then asks whether Ridgeline may track your activity (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, the device's advertising identifier is not shared: you see as many ads, but less suited to you.
- Google may collect technical information about the device to show ads and measure their effectiveness. See Google's policy.
The “Remove ads” purchase removes ads for good: the app then loads nothing from Google, not even the consent request.
Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We receive no payment information; the app only checks with Apple that the purchase was made.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no audience measurement, and no fonts or scripts from any other service. The server may briefly keep technical logs (IP address, requested page) for its security.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can request access to your data, its correction or deletion, and object to its processing. To delete your online account, use Home › My profile › Delete my online account: deletion is immediate and permanent. For any other request, write to us with your username: . You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be) or with the authority of your country.
Children
The game asks for no personal information. The username chosen to play online is visible to other players: we recommend not using your real name.
Changes
This policy may change as the game evolves (for example when Game Center arrives). The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
