The terrain decides
Moving on flat ground costs 1 movement point. Going up or down costs the height difference plus 1. A shortcut over the mountain can ruin you.
Strategy in relief for two players
Get your six pieces from one edge of the board to the other, across mountains, valleys and rivers. Climbing is expensive, attacking takes backup, and the first Guardian out can decide everything.
Each side has six pieces. You must lead them to the other side of the board and get them out: every piece that exits scores points. As soon as two pieces have exited, the higher score wins.

Capturing an enemy piece takes at least as much strength as it has. Attacking from above and surrounding the target with your pieces make the difference.
A new terrain is generated for every game, checked to stay fair for both sides. No openings to learn by heart.
Two pieces of each kind per side. Movement + strength = 6: the faster a piece, the more fragile it is.
Can take one diagonal step or jump two squares straight over an empty square, ignoring height.
Charge: +1 when attacking if the path to the target costs it exactly its 4 movement points.
Slow but formidable. If it is the very first piece of the game to exit, its side wins at once.
